According to a new study of 600 people carried out by researchers at Tel Aviv University, people who cannot stand life without social media apps on their mobile phones are more likely to grind their teeth and have trouble falling asleep. Only 6 percent of those who were given mobile phones without commonly installed apps reported incidences of grinding teeth during the day. Dr. Pessia Friedman-Rubin says the fear of missing out on messages, posts, and notifications was the reason why people remained glued to their cellphones. The study suggests highly dependent phone users may experience more distress and anxiety.
