How much does a cinder block weigh?

thanks, everyone for your answers, 3-7 sounds about right.  I'm trying to train myself for long-distance and strenuous hiking, but around me the hikes are mild so I put a cinder block (or concrete block, I'm not sure which one) in my backpack.  It was difficult, and I just wanted to know how much I was actually carrying.  Thanks again!

This article says a typical cinder block weights approximately 26-33 pounds.  Based on my recollection, that seems to be correct.  I know it's way more than 9 pounds...

"The concrete commonly used to make concrete blocks is a mixture of powdered portland cement, water, sand, and gravel. This produces a light gray block with a fine surface texture and a high compressive strength. A typical concrete block weighs 38-43 lb (17.2-19.5 kg). In general, the concrete mixture used for blocks has a higher percentage of sand and a lower percentage of gravel and water than the concrete mixtures used for general construction purposes. This produces a very dry, stiff mixture that holds its shape when it is removed from the block mold.

If granulated coal or volcanic cinders are used instead of sand and gravel, the resulting block is commonly called a cinder block. This produces a dark gray block with a medium-to-coarse surface texture, good strength, good sound-deadening properties, and a higher thermal insulating value than a concrete block. A typical cinder block weighs 26-33 lb (11.8-15.0 kg)."

A concrete block weighs about 20 lbs. I couldn't find an exact number of the web. Cinder blocks are made from coal cinders and cement. The weight is not very different.

a cinder block compared to the same dimensions as a cement block weighs approx 1/3 rd less , that would get  it down to about 9 lbs..............however one must remember that the cinder block will not have the tensile strength of the concrete block  ie one should not use cinder blocks for a bearing wall on any common size building during construction. does this help ?

Eat better. Eat foods found in nature. No foods made in a factory. None.

Get active. Everyday do something. Walk. Run. Dance. Whatever. Get a dog, take it for a walk. Play with your kids if you have any. Get moving.

You do these 2 things then your weight will fall off. Learn more:

Cinder blocks come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but an average cinder block weighs probably 12 pounds or so.
