This is a trick question. A quart is a fixed volume, so the answer depends on what is in the quart container. Something heavy will take less to equal one pound than something very light. For reference, a quart of water weighs just over two pounds, and a quart of gasoline weighs about one and one half pounds.

that easy-  a pound is 16 ounces and a quart is 32 ounces so there is only one half of a quart in a pound. so it should be 12 pounds because first i multiply 32 time 32 which equal 384 ounces so then i divide by 2 so then i got 192 then i divide it again and i got 12 and that how i got the answer

You need to know the density of the food in lbs/quart. Multiply that number times 12 quarts and you have the amount of dog food in pounds.  There are probably standard approximate densities for dry and wet food.  Look at a container of each to see the weight and volume to calculate it yourself.

Get you a bucket, weigh it, measure out 10 quarts of your feed into the bucket weigh it again, subtract the weight of the bucket and divide by 10. Now you know how much 1 quart of your feed weighs, but remember it is good only for your feed mix . If you change feeds you will need to weigh again.

well one gallon is 4 quarts, so divide 36 by 4

quarts is a measurement of volume and pounds is a measurement of force.  Without a known ratio between the two for the given substance (which is known as density*) you cannot answer the question.

*technically density is the ratio of volume to mass, but you can convert mass to force for a given location.
