When co-workers tell you that people are about to get fired, and some changes will be made.  I know it's unprofessional of bosses, but sometimes they will tell the people they plan to keep first of their plans to let someone go.  But you know people talk, and somehow the information leaks out.

The biggest sign is to watch how your boss tries to treat you. Do they respect you, praise your work, or try to talk down to you, or smile a lot in your face (sneaky)

Usually, it's chemistry you can feel in the air.

1.  The Number-One Mother of All Signs: You Have Nothing to Do:  If you find yourself without any assignments.  If your work is being reassigned to your colleagues you may have cause to be concerned.

2.  You Get a Bad Review:  Reviews almost always include some constructive criticism, but a bad review from your superiors should speak for itself. There is something wrong. Whether or not you believe it is justified, a negative review maybe your firm's way of telling you that the relationship is not going to end well.

3.  You Tell Your Firm You Are Leaving:  If your firm knows that you intend to leave, it may show you the door before you anticipate actually walking out.  Sharing your plans may turn a voluntary resignation into an immediate termination.

4.  You've Lied About Your Credentials:  Discovery of the falsehood. While intentional misrepresentations of your background may take some time to come to light when it does you're on the road to termination.

5.   You've Been Transferred to a Remote Office:  This may be the most difficult sign to accurately analyze because it may also be a sign that you are a highly valued associate. Depending on the office and the work you are being sent to do, a transfer may be a fast lane to success or a sign that your employer wants you out of sight!!!

Man, my workplace has gone through a ton of this stuff lately so here is what I know personally:

1. If the boss just simply stops talking to you.

2. If the boss speaks to other employees about your activities, usually in a demeaning manner.

3. If some sort of initiative is used against you in a much more pronounced manner than your fellow employees.  For example, using "safety" initiatives to the letter for you, but being more relaxed for others.  If YOU screw up, then pow!

4. An obvious sign is one's own lack of following what is considered proper in the workplace.  Usually, a bad employee simply fires themselves.  Take a look at yourself before you look anywhere else.

When you aren't invited to meetings, you find out things by accident that everyone else knows. When employees stop talking to you or react in a furtive or hostile manner. When your responsibilities are diminished. Maybe someone gets a promotion or raise who has been there less time than you.

I've been canned a few times and each time, I kinda knew it was going to happen.  co-workers acting weird, having closed-door meetings without you.  them not talking to you.  etc...

if you think you're gonna get fired, start looking for another job...quick!! I'm looking at myself...I know I'm going to get fired soon too!
