in cell division, spindle fibres are what the centromere of chromosomes attach to. since there is one spindle fibre per chromosome, it also helps keep them separate from one another. the contractions of the spindle fibres pull the chromosomes (mitosis, meiosis 2) or tetrads (meiosis 1) apart into opposite ends of the new daughter cells during the anaphase stage. the spindles are the organelle that holds the spindle fibres, and during
