What to Do When Meeting Your Girlfriend’s Parents

So I'm meeting my girlfriend's parents soon and I think I'll be able to answer all of their questions.  I'm just wondering if there's a silence, what should I ask them? I know what they're into kinda, but I wanna know what's taboo and what are some light questions to start a conversation with them?  Thanks

be nice to her parents, especially her dad, and let them as all the questions. this is how I've always done it, and all my GF's parents have loved me.

I had dinner with someone once and was worried about not knowing them very well and that awkward silence.  A few days before, I gathered up some pictures of my children when they were younger and now, some of our river cottage and some of the trips we had been on.  When the awkward silence happened, I pulled out the little album I had put them in and started to show the pics.  This created conversation and allowed the other person a chance to brag about their children/grandchildren, trips, or whatever.  I would suggest maybe getting some pics together of you and your family.  Any family pets you might have had.  Your first day of First Grade picture.  Parents like this kind of thing and it shows you are close to your parents and your family.  It also shows a respect factor and perhaps they will feel that you are respectful enough to be dating their daughter.  Stay away from talking about politics, religion, and race.

Look around and comment about their house, in particular about any decoration that looks like it has a history. That will probably lead to subjects they are comfortable with and will have them do most of the talking.

If you are meeting them in any other place, talk about them, something like how they meet each other (will give them the idea that your intentions are serious, and again will let them do all the talking).

The taboo subjects are the obvious ones, sex and the like. Try not to go into politics the first time you meet them, you might get into trouble.

If there's a silence, ask them how long they've been living where they are at. This will open up a very broad topic because then you can talk about states, neighborhoods, cities, etc. Where you've lived, where they have lived..

Good luck :)

Tell them about grades and stuff

If they have a pet ask them when how and why they got it (always works)

Then use that conversation like (I used to have a (put pet type here) and her/his name was (pet name here) and this and this happened to (pet name)

It will lead on and on

Be very nice to them and be yourself! My mom loves the fact that my boyfriend acts like himself and answers him with the truth! :D.. But I agree do not talk about sex with them... lol. The dad would literally choke you if you told him nasty stuff about his daughter xD

just make small talk like talking about local sports teams (SAINTS 13-0) or what they want to do for Christmas, just remember, its all about eye contact and to NOT look stressed and nervous

Just make sure to reiterate the fact that you have no intention of putting a penis in the vagina.
